It has been reported that UK-based cloud computing company Nscale, through a major deal with ByteDance's subsidiary Spring, has enabled this subsidiary to access 2,304 Nvidia B200 chips at its data center in Glomfjord, Norway. According to a Financial Times report, this deal accounted for $24 million of Nscale's $33 million in annual revenue for 2025.
According to the Financial Times, the access in question took place within a legal framework and exploited gaps in the US's ongoing export controls toward China. However, the report notes that this situation exposes the company to regulatory and reputational risks.
