A new mod developed for GTA 4 adds DLSS, DLAA, and FSR 3 support to the game, improving the visual quality of the 2008 title. The mod doesn't violate Rockstar's modding rules and offers a lighter solution compared to the earlier RTX Remix mod.
A new mod for Grand Theft Auto IV adds DLSS, DLAA, and FSR support to the game. Created by modder ChunkLeChuck, the DLSS IV mod aims to offer a modern solution to the 2008 title's well-known jagged edges and shimmering image quality issues.
According to the source, Rockstar's updated modding rules ahead of GTA 6 impose restrictions on things like unofficial story missions or unauthorized PC ports; however, they do not include a ban on adding technologies like DLSS, DLAA, and FSR to GTA 4.
Similar Attempts Have Been Made Before
This isn't the first time modders have added Nvidia and AMD's anti-aliasing and upscaling technologies to GTA 4. Previously, Warcaco's RTX Remix mod offered DLSS support as part of its high-resolution texture and path tracing add-ons.
ChunkLeChuck's DLSS IV mod, on the other hand, stands out as a lighter, faster, and cleaner solution for those who just want to improve the base game's visual quality.

Technical Details
DLSS is Nvidia's machine learning-based upscaler for GeForce RTX graphics cards, while DLAA functions as the anti-aliasing component of DLSS without any upscaling. The FSR version used by the mod is reported to be FSR 3, AMD's equivalent technology.
As a result, while FSR 3 doesn't deliver results as sharp as Nvidia's technology, it can be used on a working GPU from any manufacturer. All three technologies are compatible with HDR.
Since DLAA doesn't perform upscaling, it won't have as much of an impact on performance as DLSS or FSR.
Rockstar's GTA 4 Remaster Plans
According to claims, Rockstar was considering a comprehensive and modern remaster of GTA 4 as recently as 2022. However, it's suggested that the idea was abandoned following the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition.
Player and critic reactions to the remaster package were largely negative.
