6-Year-Old Lian Yunzhi Breaks Women's 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube World Record Twice in Three Days
Six-year-old Lian Yunzhi, who lives in Chengdu, China, broke the women's 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube world record twice in three days at WCA-approved competitions. Bringing her average solve time down to 4.27 seconds, Yunzhi became the only female competitor in this category to go below 4.5 seconds.
Six-year-old Lian Yunzhi, who lives in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, broke the women's 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube world record twice in three days at World Cube Association (WCA)-approved competitions. According to WCA data, the athlete nicknamed "Zhizhi" became the only female competitor in this category to bring her average solve time below 4.5 seconds.
According to the competition results, Yunzhi recorded average times of 4.52 seconds at the WCA Wuhan Danqiu event and 4.27 seconds at the WCA Guangzhou event. She thus improved her own record within a short period.
She practices 2-3 hours a day
Behind the young athlete's success is a regular training schedule. It is stated that Yunzhi, who was introduced to the puzzle cube through a course she attended alongside music and dance, practices 2 to 3 hours every day and has memorized more than 1,300 solving algorithms.
Her mother, Lin Yangxi, says the activity is not merely about memorizing formulas. According to Lin, this pursuit develops children's logical reasoning, focus, and spatial perception skills.
Behind the overall rankings records
Although Yunzhi has achieved a notable result in the women's category, she remains behind the overall rankings records. According to Guinness World Records data, the fastest single solve is 2.76 seconds by Teodor Zajder, while the record for the average of five solves is 3.51 seconds by Yiheng Wang.
