Bentley's First Fully Electric Model, the Torcal, Unveiled
Bentley has unveiled the Torcal, the brand's first fully electric series production model. The electric luxury SUV, with versions producing up to 888 horsepower, offers a range of up to 600 km and 400 kW fast charging support.
British luxury automaker Bentley has officially unveiled the Torcal, the brand's first fully electric series production model, at a launch event. According to the company's statement, the Torcal is positioned as the brand's fourth model family and bears the title of the most powerful Bentley.
A luxury SUV approximately 5 meters long, the Torcal takes its place in the lineup as the new electric option alongside internal combustion and plug-in hybrid models. According to the company, the vehicle will be developed and produced at the headquarters in Crewe, United Kingdom.
Design and Positioning
Despite its dimensions, the manufacturer describes the Torcal as the shortest four-door model in the current lineup. Shaped under the leadership of design chief Robin Page, the vehicle maintains the classic Bentley silhouette with its long wheelbase and low-profile stance. At the front, the illuminated diamond-patterned surface replacing the radiator grille reflects the brand's new design language.
It is stated that the vehicle is the first series production car to carry Bentley's revised emblem introduced in 2025. While 21-inch wheels are standard on the base version, the performance-focused Torcal S version comes with 22-inch wheels as standard.
Performance and Power Transfer
According to the company, the Torcal is powered by two permanent magnet synchronous motors providing all-wheel drive. A locking differential with multi-plate clutches is present on the rear axle for torque vectoring.
The standard Torcal model produces 821 horsepower and 1,194 Nm of torque, completing 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 250 km/h. The range-topping Torcal S, with Launch Control engaged, delivers 888 horsepower and 1,350 Nm of torque. This version accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 260 km/h.
Battery and Charging
At the heart of the Torcal is a lithium-ion battery with a net usable capacity of 113 kWh, operating on an 800-volt architecture. Promising a range of up to 600 km according to WLTP standards, the model supports 400 kW fast charging.
According to the company, the battery can go from 10 percent to 80 percent charge in under 20 minutes. A 7-minute charge at suitable stations is said to add approximately 161 km of range to the vehicle. Bentley provides a 10-year or 161,000 km warranty on the battery pack.
Driving Dynamics and Technology
On the driving dynamics side, a fully active suspension system combined with adaptive dual-valve dampers is used. Thanks to this system, traditional anti-roll bars have been completely removed from the vehicle, and each damper is managed independently to prevent body roll.
The standard steerable rear axle turns the rear wheels up to 5 degrees, reducing the vehicle's turning circle to as low as 11.1 meters. Stopping power is provided by optional carbon silicon carbide ceramic brakes measuring 440 mm at the front and 410 mm at the rear.
Combining technology and practicality, the Torcal offers a total of 550 liters of storage space with a 90-liter frunk under the front hood and a 460-liter trunk at the rear. Thanks to 25 radars, cameras, and sensors scanning the environment, the vehicle can autonomously reverse to a detected escape point when stuck on narrow roads.
Inside, curved OLED screens are featured, while physical buttons are retained on the center console and steering wheel. According to the company, not wanting to imitate an internal combustion engine, the brand has designed a special sound called Bentley Dynamic Symphony, based on the iconic 6.75-liter V8 engine sound and blended with drum, viola, and bass guitar recordings.
Pricing
According to the company, prices for the Torcal model start at 165,000 pounds. The high-performance Torcal S version will go on sale starting at 200,000 pounds.
