The first trailer has been released for "Musk," Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney's documentary about the life of Elon Musk. The roughly four-hour film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September. The production explores Musk's private life as well as his journey through the business world.
What's in the documentary?
The film covers a broad span of the billionaire's life. From the founding years of Tesla and SpaceX to the acquisition of Twitter/X, from Musk's political influence to his personal life, a wide range of topics are examined in the documentary.
Among those Gibney interviewed are Musk's ex-wife Justine Musk, tech journalists Kara Swisher and Zoë Schiffer, and Martin Eberhard, one of Tesla's founders.
Musk's reaction to the documentary
Although Musk is the central figure of the film, he did not give an interview for the documentary. What's more, he has used remarkably harsh language toward director Alex Gibney ever since the film was first announced.
It is not known whether Musk has seen the film. Nevertheless, he has made scathing posts about the documentary and its director on X. Describing the film as a "hit piece," Musk also accused Gibney of having "zero integrity."
Release schedule
"Musk" is scheduled to open in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on October 9. An international release date has not yet been announced. After its theatrical run, the film will also air on HBO in early 2027.
